Use lava rocks! They absorb excess water and slowly release it back into the soil, protecting your plants from their biggest threat: root rot. Even if your planter has a hole, lava rocks are a great addition to any soil for added absorbency and aeration.

These two-quart (about 1.7L) resealable bags are ready-to-use right out of the bag. You can even add a layer on top to give your potted plant a rocky, natural look.
